Two-motorcycle crash kills woman
A woman killed Sunday in a two-motorcycle accident has been identified as a 26-year-old Des Moines resident. She was a passenger on the motorcycle driven by her 35-year-old husband.
Their motorcycle crashed into the back of another motorcycle being ridden by a 55-year-old man from Altoona around 6:30 p.m. near the 4oo block of East 30th Street. Both were thrown from the bike while the man who was struck remained uninjured.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene while the man was transported to Mercy Medical Center with a broken leg. No charges have been filed. None of the riders were wearing helmets. Police are investigating whether drugs or alcohol were involved.
