Woman facing charges for Iowa drunk driving hit-and-run accident

A female driver who was suspected of being involved in a pedestrian accident in June is facing several charges, including a drunk driving charge, the Washington Times reported on July 18.

Reports said the Estherville female driver allegedly struck a 57-year-old pedestrian on June 20. According to police, the female driver initially drove away from the crash scene. Though the driver returned with another person who called authorities and attempted to give aid to the victim, who was laying on the ground, the female driver once again left the scene without speaking to the police. A felony DUI and other charges related to the incident were filed against the woman after authorities confiscated her vehicle to be used for evidence.

Sadly, many pedestrians are left with incapacitating injuries after being involved in car accidents caused by drunken drivers.
