Driver facing 12 years behind bars for injuring woman in Iowa DUI crash

A driver with previous DUI offenses in Iowa is facing a 12-year prison sentence after causing an accident that left a female driver disabled, an article of WQAD 8 reported on October 19.

In a court hearing, the woman, who is in a wheelchair, recounted the details of what happened when the defendant from Quad City struck her vehicle last year. The collision reportedly occurred after the defendant went into the wrong lane in Moline. The plaintiff said she was angry about what happened to her because she needs to depend on other people to function now. Aside from the multiple physical injuries she sustained, reports revealed that the woman is about to lose her health insurance because she lost her job. She has already spent $500,000 for treatment. The defendant expressed his apology to the victim.
