Fatalities reported in Walmart store crash

At least two Walmart employees and a shopper succumbed to injuries after a vehicle rammed through the store’s facade in the southeast portion of Iowa, a December 2 article of CBS News reported.

On December 1, a 66-year-old driver struck the glass facade of a Walmart store in Pella. The vehicle reportedly got inside the store’s grocery area and came to a halt after crashing into a produce display. Witnesses told reports that the vehicle was traveling at an excessive rate of speed when the accident happened. Two Walmart employees, identified as a 29-year-old and a 31-year-old, and a 76-year-old shopper were killed.

The vehicle driver involved and another shopper were both injured in the incident. Responding authorities told reports that it would take them time to determine the factors in the crash because they are still waiting for the driver’s toxicology report. As of reporting, charges have not been filed against the driver, but an officer said that anything could happen.
