Motorcyclist facing charges for involvement in fatal accident
Charges were recently filed against a motorcyclist in Des Moines because police suspect he could be liable for a motorcycle accident that resulted in a fatality, an article of Radio Iowa reported on December 13.
According to reports, police apprehended a man on December 12 identified as a 22-year-old Johnston resident. They believe this man was a contributing factor in an October 22 motorcycle accident in Des Moines. Police told reports that the person they arrested was likely racing with another motorcycle rider, identified as a 22-year-old man from Des Moines. The Des Moines man died as a result of his injuries as he was not wearing a helmet when his speeding motorcycle slammed into a sports utility vehicle (SUV).
Investigators later revealed the two motorcyclists were riding side by side moments before the accident happened. The Johnston motorcyclist was later charged with vehicular homicide by reckless driving and vehicular homicide by drag racing.
