On Tuesday around 1 a.m. in the morning, the police officer allegedly crashed his patrol car. He was near the 3800 block of East Ovid Avenue. The pedestrian accident occurred around 9:30 a.m. on April 3 near the intersection of Fourth Street and Main Street. An 87-year-old truck driver was traveling south through the intersection when he made contact with the pedestrian.

An 87-year-old truck driver was driving southbound through the intersection when his car made contact with the pedestrian. Numerous bystanders rushed to the woman’s aid while paramedics were on their way. According to the police, the elderly pedestrian had severe brain damage from the accident.

She was taken to a Clear Lake hospital, and she was in critical condition before she passed away. Police are investigating the accident, but at this time no charges have been filed.

The driver of the motor vehicle was traveling south, when he attempted to turn left. During the turn, he slammed head-on into an oncoming motorcyclist, who was northbound. The motorcycle’s headlights were not turned on, and police believe this is why the driver was unaware of it’s presence.

The motorcyclist was also not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, and consequently suffered serious injuries. Doctors do believe that the motorcyclist will be able to recover from his injuries, but he currently still remains hospitalized.

A 23-year-old woman was driving with her son and a female passenger when she lost control and drifted into oncoming traffic. Her vehicle struck a car almost directly head-on. The driver and the 21-year-old passenger were both severely injured and taken to the Iowa Methodist Medical Center. The woman’s young son was transported to Blank Children’s Hospital where he remains in critical condition.
