Drunk driver kills passenger in single-vehicle crash
According to Iowa State Police, a 47-year-old woman was killed Saturday night in a single-vehicle accident six miles southeast of Mount Pleasant.
The driver of the pickup truck in which she was riding, a 64-year-old Mount Pleasant man, is in critical condition.
Authorities believe that the man lost control of the pickup when he attempted to round a bend and flipped over into a rain filled ditch.
Investigation is ongoing, but it is believed that alcohol was the leading cause of the accident.
