Four injured in West Union garbage truck accident

At least four people were injured, three of whom are in critical condition after a recent vehicular accident happened in West Union involving a garbage truck and a pickup truck.

Information coming from Fayette County authorities revealed that officers responded to a two-vehicle accident on Highway 18 at 6:43 in the morning. The collision reportedly happened when the garbage truck operator was attempting to reverse into a driveway from the highway and was struck by a pickup truck while moving backwards. The two occupants of the pickup and one pedestrian who was picking up the trash suffered life-threatening injuries. The garbage truck operator was also hospitalized due to his injuries, and the 23-year-old was cited by officers for unsafe backing upon a highway. The driver of the pickup truck will also be cited for driving with a suspended license.

The crash occurred at 8:30 a.m. on Lafayette Road when a Pontiac Sunfire was heading east and collided with a flat bed truck. The passenger door of the car was caught on the towing equipment of the truck and was ripped off.

This caused the car to spin across the lanes of traffic before coming to a stop. Three people in the car were taken to the hospital, but the extent of their injuries were unknown. Iowa State Patrol is currently investigating the accident at this time.

50 pigs on roadway after truck accident

Fifty pigs were let lose on the highway after a truck accident in Kansas.

A truck that was carrying 720 pigs from Missouri to Iowa overturned on the ramp from I-435 North. A local news station reported that the truck rounded a corner too fast and lost control of the vehicle.

The man was wearing a seat belt and was able to escape serious injury. Fifty pigs then got out and ran all over the roadway while crews tried to corral them together.

Three killed in Iowa semi accident

The lives of three people were taken in an accident that involved two trucks and a van in Wayne County.

According to Iowa State Patrol, the accident occurred at 8 a.m. on Highway 2 when a 59-year-old man was heading eastbound on the highway and his truck crossed the center line crashing into two westbound vehicles.

The man’s truck caught fire along with the another one of the vehicles. All three drivers were killed in the accident.

A man from Sioux City was killed in a truck accident near Calhoun County on August 5.

The man was driving a tanker truck southbound when failed to stop at a stop sign at a T-intersection. He attempted to make a right turn, but his truck did not make it and it fell into a ditch and landed on its roof. The 44-year-old man was later pronounced dead of injuries that were sustained in the accident.

A 24-year-old woman has been cited for causing a three-vehicle accident on Highway 75 in Sioux City.

The woman was driving on Highway 75 when she rear-ended a pickup truck in front of her. This impact than caused the truck to hit a semi-truck that was waiting to make a turn in front of the pickup.

The woman broke her leg in the accident and was transported to the hospital to be treated for her injuries. There were also a few other minor injuries suffered by people in the accident. Both truck in the collision were severely damaged.

Iowa man killed in truck driving accident

An Iowa truck driver was killed in a semi-truck accident in Washington after the truck he was driving overturned.

The 55-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The man was traveling eastbound on State Route 24 when he failed to negotiate a curve correctly which caused the vehicle to overturn.

The truck stopped on top of a guardrail. The road was closed for an hour while emergency crews worked to get the semi-truck to an upright position.

Boone County ambulance crash kills two

An ambulance-truck accident in Boone County Thursday has left two dead and two in critical condition, according to police.

The incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. on Highway 30 near Beaver. An ambulance from St. Anthony Regional Hospital was transporting a 75-year-old Carroll man to another hospital.

The ambulance had its emergency lights on and was passing traffic on the highway. A semi-trailer truck ahead of the ambulance in the left lane attempted to move into the right lane to allow the ambulance to pass.

Unfortunately, the ambulance moved into the right lane at the same time and crashed into the back of the truck.

The 75-year-old man as well as a 53-year-old nurse in the ambulance were both killed. The driver of the ambulance and a paramedic were also critically injured.
