Monday morning in Water Works Park, a single-vehicle accident claimed the life of one man, and injured another.
Des Moines police responded to an accident report around 7 a.m. on Monday, and found a vehicle near the north entrance to the Water Works Park, partly submerged in the water. Police pronounced a 23-year-old man dead at the scene, and a 28-year-old Des Moines man was transported to a nearby hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
According to police, the car accident had no witnesses, but it seemed as if the driver had lost control of his vehicle while attempting to turn on a road near the park. The vehicle collided with a cement structure, causing it to plummet into the water.
Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends during this difficult time.

The woman was transported to a nearby hospital, but only sustained minor injuries. Police have revealed that the woman was intoxicated at the time of the incident, and that the case is still under investigation.
