One Dead and Four Wounded in Des Moines Car Accident

An 11 year old died while four others were hurt in a car accident in Des Moines, Iowa earlier this month.

Iowa State Patrol Authorities identified the deceased as Jacquelle McDonald of Chicago. The report showed McDonald was not wearing a seatbelt when the vehicle’s driver lost control and hit the median after the vehicle rolled several times. The four other passengers in the vehicle, two of whom were children, suffered minor injuries.

Traffic authorities reduced the traffic down to a few lanes and detoured traffic away from the accident as rescue teams secured the crash site.

Madison man killed in crash in Waterloo

Garth Beatty, 70, of Vinton, IA, drove and crashed his pickup truck trailer into Joseph Pink, 71, of Madison, WI, in the southbound lanes of Highway 63 in Waterloo on Wednesday.

Pink died at the scene. According to authorities, Beatty was driving in the southbound lanes of Highway 63 and crashed his vehicle as Pink was crossing the highway. Both vehicles ended up in a nearby ditch after Beatty’s pickup flipped upon impact. Beatty was taken to a nearby hospital in Waterloo.

School bus crash injures teen driver

A 17 year old boy from Douds was driving his car just north of Lebanon in southeast Iowa when his car collided with a Van Buren Community school bus.

Steven J. Duke, 47, was driving the school bus northbound on County Road V-64 when the bus collided with the southbound travelling car driven by the boy.  The teen was rushed to Van Buren County Hospital with serious injuries, and then was later flown to University Hospitals in Iowa City.

Duke was left unharmed, and the students on the school bus were taken to Van Buren County Hospital for precautionary measures, but were not found to have serious injuries.

Iowa man injured in car crash with semitrailer

A Chevrolet Impala driven by Ryan J. Siebenbrodt, 30, of Des Moines collided with an empty semitrailer driven by  Walter J. Seilheimer, 66, of Sandwich, IL on Saturday.

The incident occurred at Main Street and County Line Road in Kane County. Siebenbrodt was cut out of his vehicle and airlifted to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.  Seilheimer was left unharmed.

Police are still investigating, and have not released further details.

Police investigate single-vehicle car accident

Police are continuing to investigate a single-car accident that occurred in Sac County and injured one man.

According to police, the accident occurred on Friday night as the 44-year-old man was driving a Buick down Highway D-54 when he lost control after rounding a curve.

The vehicle then went into a ditch before striking a concrete culvert and coming to a stop. The man was extricated by the Jaws of Life and transported to Stewart Memorial Hospital to be treated. Blood was drawn from the man in order to test for drug or alcohol abuse.

Four people injured in two-car accident

Four people were injured in a two-vehicle car crash in Iowa.

According to police, a family was traveling southbound on Highway 59 when a 70-year-old woman in another vehicle attempted to make a left turn and drove into the path of the family’s car.

Three people in the family’s car were injured along with the 70-year-old woman. A 16-year-old family member was transported to the hospital by medical helicopter as a result of the accident. Further details on the injured victims’ current condition is unknown at this time.

Two people killed in a car accident in Northwest Iowa

Two people were killed in a Northwest Iowa car accident that occurred last week.

According to Iowa State Patrol, the accident occurred on Highway 18  when a 57-year-old man swerved into the path of a 77-year-old woman.

The 57-year-old man and a passenger in the other car were both killed in the accident. Two others were injured in the accident and transported to Palo Alto County Hospital to be treated.

4 injured in accident with railroad equipment vehicle

Four people were injured in Lester on Tuesday night after their vehicle collided with a Ballast Regulator, which is a vehicle that maintains railroad tracks.

The accident occurred at 9 p.m. on Dogwood Avenue and 120th Street. A 20-year-old woman was driving a vehicle and attempted to make a turn onto 120th Street. When she made the turn, her vehicle, which was filled with three other passengers, collided with the Ballast Regulator.

All four people in the vehicle were injured and taken to local hospitals. One person suffered critical injuries in the accident and is still currently in the hospital.

One killed, two injured in car crash

One person was killed and two others injured after a car accident in Marathon, Iowa.

According to the initial investigation, the accident occurred when an 18-year-old was traveling southbound on County Road M54 with four other passengers and he ran a stop sign at the Highway 10 intersection. After running the stop sign, the car then collided with an SUV. Both vehicles ended up in a ditch on the side of the road.

Two people had to be extricated from the teen’s truck after the collision and one passenger was thrown from the car on impact. This passenger, 17, was pronounced dead on the scene. Three passengers were transported to the hospital to be treated.

Two injured in Iowa City car accident

Two people from Iowa City were injured in car accident after the driver lost control of the car on the highway.

The accident occurred as the driver struck the median on Interstate 35 and then over corrected to get back on the roadway, but they struck the east rail bridge as a result.

The driver and the passenger were both transported to Mercy Medical Center to be treated for their injuries. The accident remains under investigation at this time.
