Dubuque County accident leaves two injured

Reports coming from Dubuque County authorities revealed that at around 9:30 on the morning of November 6, a two-vehicle collision occurred on Highway 136 and left two drivers with injuries. The accident reportedly happened while a New Vienna woman was attempting to pass a vehicle on the two-way road.

The woman was traveling southbound, and she noticed an oncoming vehicle after moving into the northbound lane to make the pass. The woman attempted to get back in the southbound lane, but she over-corrected and collided with the oncoming car driven by a 66-year-old man from Colesburg. The collision sent both vehicles into a nearby ditch.

The man had to be airlifted to a hospital for treatment of his serious injuries.

Iowa athlete suspended after drunken driving arrest

A male university wrestler in Iowa was recently suspended from team activities after state authorities arrested him for driving a vehicle while intoxicated (OWI), an article of The Des Moines Register reported on July 11.

The 21-year-old wrestler for Iowa State University reportedly is facing an OWI charge after he was arrested by Iowa police. Authorities did not provided further details regarding the wrestler’s arrest and the charge filed against him. The wrestler’s coach expressed disappointment about the arrest and stated that they are handling the issue seriously, as the wrestler violated the code of conduct. The wrestler, who is currently suspended indefinitely from his team, is known to have two family members who were former members of the “Cyclones” wrestling team.

Dubuque driver ticketed after damaging salon in accident

A Dubuque driver recently was cited for causing damage to a nail salon by accidentally crashing a rented car into the facade, KCRG reported on February 28.

Reports said the accident happened not long after 6:00 a.m. on February 26 at the Nails for U salon. Dubuque resident Devin Stampley, 37, placed his foot on the gas pedal of a rented car and crashed into the facade of the nail salon. No one sustained injuries in the accident even though the nail salon already had customers inside. Estimated damages reached up to $10,000, including the rented vehicle. Stampley, who was cited for reckless driving, told officials he thought the car was in park when the accident happened.

1 dead, 3 injured in Indianola vehicular accident

One person was killed and three others suffered injuries in a recent vehicular collision that occurred in the Indianola area, The Des Moines Register reported on December 16.

Indianola Police Department identified the fatality as 33-year-old Jimmy Johnson, who was from Des Moines. According to Captain Brian Sher the accident occurred at around 6:00 p.m. of December 15. Johnson reportedly was riding passenger in the backseat of a southbound vehicle on Highway 65 when the car was rear-ended by another vehicle. The drivers of the two vehicles and another passenger were all taken to a hospital due to injuries they sustained in the crash. An investigation is being conducted by the Iowa State Patrol.

A Manilla resident was killed and others were injured when two vehicles collided in Crawford County, siouxlandmatters.com reported on November 6.

Iowa State Patrol identified the fatality as 80-year-old James Macumber. Reports said on November 5, Macumber was heading east on Highway 37 near Dunlap when a pickup truck struck his car. Macumber reportedly died on the spot while his passenger, identified as Rosalie Macumber, 76, was airlifted to address her injuries. Authorities identified Bryan Brummer as the man driving the pickup truck. Brummer, 41, also suffered injuries from the crash. Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.

Three hurt in Des Moines vehicular accident

At least three individuals suffered injuries in southern Des Moines due to a head-on collision, The Des Moines Register reported on October 14.

According to statements, the collision happened around 8:00 p.m. on Fleur Drive in the vicinity of the Iowa Highway 5 Interchange. Responding rescue personnel reportedly extracted the injured individuals from two vehicles. Preliminary investigations showed that one of the vehicles drifted into the opposite lane and caused the collision. Des Moines Fire Chief Dan Burke stated that the accident resulted to “significant injuries.”

Police car strikes bicyclist in Davenport

A bicycle rider was recently injured after he was struck by a police vehicle in Davenport area, an article on kwqc.com reported September 30.

On Monday, September 29 a man riding a motor-propelled bicycle was reportedly struck by an eastbound unmarked police car at the intersection of Main and 5th Street. The male bicyclist, whose identity was not released, suffered injuries and was later taken to the hospital. The officer involved in the collision was also not identified in the report. One dead in Dubuque County motorcycle crash

A man recently died of serious injuries after the motorcycle he was riding was struck by a vehicle in Dubuque County, kwwl.com stated on September 1.

According to reports, two northbound motorcyclists were struck by a pickup truck on U.S. 52 at around 4:00 p.m. of Sunday, August 31. Motorcyclist Thomas Haberichter later died after being airlifted to a hospital in Iowa City. Another motorcyclist identified as Nancy Haberichter was also treated for the injuries she sustained in the crash, but is expected to recover. The driver of the pickup, Kevin Stock, was not hurt in the crash.

Two injured in Cedar Rapids 7-vehicle crash

A seven-vehicle accident in Cedar Rapids area resulted in the injury of two people, KCRG reported on July 23.

According to Lt. Cody Estling of the Cedar Rapids Police, a vehicle was reportedly seen driving the wrong way on Interstate 380 before 7:00 a.m. Moments later, they received a report of seven vehicles that crashed because of the wrong-way vehicle. The driver of the vehicle that caused the crash and one other were injured and taken to a hospital. A portion of I-380 was temporarily closed while responding crews worked at the scene of the accident. The driver was in his 70’s, and police are investigating whether any medical condition was related to his reckless driving behaviors.

2 people injured in Ireton car accident

At least two people sustained injuries near Ireton after the car they were traveling in was involved in an accident, siouxcityjournal.com reported on Tuesday, April 22.

According to reports, the accident occurred around 4:00 p.m. on April 19 when an eastbound vehicle on 420th Street went through the median lane. A 60-year-old woman driving a vehicle in the opposite direction ended up in a ditch as a result of swerving to avoid a collision. Two occupants in the woman’s vehicle were injured in the incident. The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public to help them identify the driver of the vehicle that caused the crash.
